With the closing of CafĂ© Cocomo came a mad scramble among Bay Area Salseros on what to do about Thursday night cravings. It didn’t take long for the Yerba Buena Social Club to claim Thursday as their Salsa night at The Verdi Club. Having expanded their schedule of casual socials to this location, Salseros can now decompress readjust to the post-Cocomo era. The “Verdi” is clean, spacious and provides a great wooden dance floor in the main room. The stage and sound system are appealing and will definitely draw on the great reservoir of bay area musical talent. With a separate bar away from the dance floor, this venue promises to be the main attraction on Thursday nights. Parking is available and the area is well lit and reasonably safe. I like this club and plan to visit as often as possible.

Visited this place 9/25 and 10/2.

9/25 was lackluster though 10/2 seemed much livelier. Did spot a few more of the Cafe Cocomo refugees on 10/2.

Al’s review aptly describes the place and I really could not add much more. Leave the powder at home as this place has a beautiful large wood floor that is recently refinished. There is also free drinking water at the bar.

It’s open to dancers of “all levels” so do come out and give it a shot.
