Our Review:

Taste Fridays is one of the most fun salsa socials going on in the City on Friday nights. The event is held at Cafe Cocomo, one of the best salsa venues in the Bay, featuring spacious dance floors, a full bar, and a lounge atmosphere.

Corey Raynor, the organizer of the event teaches both a beginner salsa and bachata lesson at the beginning of the night, which gives beginners a chance to learn two popular Latin dance styles at one event. There are also two separate dance floors set up for salsa and bachata, so you can choose which style you feel like dancing to.

Another great thing about Taste is that they often feature live salsa music as well as dance performances from different dance groups. The dancers at Taste are a good mix of beginners and experienced regulars.

Overall, I give Taste Fridays 4/5 stars for their great atmosphere, fun salsa & bachata lessons, and live dance music.

Never miss another salsa event!

This is one of my favorite places to go dancing on a Friday night! Cafe Cocomo is one of best salsa dancing venues in SF, and Friday nights is one of the best nights to go because they have a salsa AND bachata room! The venue is pretty spacious, so you don’t have to worry about getting stepped on, and there is an upstairs lounge area where you can sit and relax.

The only bad thing about this place is that the only parking is street parking, and it can be hard to find parking if you come late, and the area is a bit sketchy. But other than that, I love coming to Taste Fridays at Cocomo!

It is basically Friday at Cafe Cocomo salsa club. There was some interest in early 2012, when they first started, until people realized its just a Friday day at Cafe Cocomo. Prior to that Cafe Cocomo had other not so profitable events yet troublesome (remember the Hip Hop shootings) events on a Friday.

Over the years, many clubs and promoters have tried Salsa on Fridays to no avail. Friday has historically been a poor day for salsa dancing.

Evan Margolin / SalsaCrazy website guy , has rented the space on Friday and trying to rebrand a Friday. Late 2012 early 2013, interest has died down for this event. They cannot even afford internet connectivity on their IPhone to process credit cards. They have the card reader on the IPhone but no internet connection !! They are lucky if they get 70 – 100 people there. Most are in the mid 20s to early 30s age group, hanging out with a group of friends on a Friday (as with so many happy hour bars on a Friday ) or they’ve taken some varied dance class at City college.

If you are a salsa dancer or have interest in improving your salsa dance, Friday may not be worth your while. Instead Thurs and Sat nights are the better nights at Cafe Cocomo.

Great place to dance. Between the two floors is hard staying in one because they are both hot, a lot of people to dance and most people were ready to dance. It was my first time there and will go back for sure.

Although I am definitely biased because I work for the event, I think this in an incredible party and a welcome new addition to the Bay Area dance scene.

TASTE re-imagines the space at 650 Indiana St., with an outdoor patio hangout, extended indoor dance floor, guest food vendors and mixologists, and all-star line-up of live concerts with the top local and touring bands of Latin music.

100′s of fresh new faces join the party each week for the lessons, and familiar Salseros and Bachateros grace the floor as the party rages on ’til 2:00am with live music and DJ Guapo spinning the best of Salsa, Bachata y mas!

Biased perhaps, but Corey Raynor runs an amazing night, the largest in the Bay Area, each and every Friday. Absolutely packed with friendly, fun, people, it’s a fantastic place to dance each and every Friday (with live music), and TWO rooms for salsa and bachata.

Come see it for yourself! You won’t be sorry. Packed Beginning salsa and bachata classes (average size is around 100 people or more), and then hundreds more come out to dance. There’s nothing else like it in the Bay.

Taste Fridays is one of the best salsa events happening in the city right now. I look forward to my fridays because of Taste event at Cocomos.

Cocomos has been an institution for salsa dancing in the last several years. There are many salsa/latin events happening pretty much every day of the week at Cocomo or in the bay but Taste Fridays is the best of them all. Very friendly crowd that makes you feel comfortable on the dance floor even if you are a beginner. Obviously there are pros that go there as well.

I have to honestly disagree with one of the earlier reviewers that Taste fridays is not the place to improve your salsa dancing. Maybe he/she is selective in their approach to picking leaders/followers, I dont know. But I absolutely love dancing here on Fridays and for the last 8 weeks I’ve been paying every single time with my credit card. And i have consistently seen an average of around 250 people in there.

If you want to meet some of the friendliest salsa crowd in the city/bay i would highly recommend checking out Taste fridays. Once you go there you’ll know why and you will not be disappointed. Good luck to you all and have fun salsa dancing, because it is all about FUN :)
