The San Jose Jazz Festival is one of the most fun events of the year, and it's not just for salsa dancers. The event takes place all over downtown San Jose, and features nearly a dozen different stages where bands and musicians from around the world come to perform. It's a great event to go to sip some beers, enjoy fantastic live music, and celebrate the end of summer.

Of course, if you enjoy salsa dancing, the San Jose Jazz Festival is a real treat because it has a dedicated salsa stage where you can enjoy great salsa music from top notch bands such as Avance and Montuno Swing. It's one of the few events of the year where you get to dance outdoors, and dancing salsa on the streets of San Jose to the beat of live music is an experience that can't be beat.

If you plan on going to the Jazz Festival (which you should), here are a couple of tips. First of all, if you plan on dancing during the day, realize that it's going to get very hot. Make sure you bring plenty of water, a towel, and maybe even a change of clothes, because you will be sweating!

Second, dancing on concrete and pavement is a lot different than dancing on the polished floor of a dance studio. Leave your fancy heels and expensive dance shoes at home, and switch them out for a comfortable pair of street shoes. And if you're a leader, please don't try to make your poor followers do multiple spins on rough pavement!

Finally, the Jazz Festival is an all day event that can get pretty exhausting if you're dancing and standing around all day. It's a good idea to bring along a lawn chair or two that you can set up on the side of the stage so that you can sit down and rest between sets.

If you love dancing salsa or just enjoy great live music, the San Jose Jazz Festival is an event that can't be missed. I can't recommend it highly enough.
