Salsa Team Auditions Coming Up!

The Bay Area is fortunate to have some of the best salsa teams in the world, and many of them are holding auditions in the coming weeks for new members. If you’ve always wanted to be a part of a team and perform on stage, this could be your chance!

If you’ve never auditioned for a team before, generally you will go through a quick warmup routine, and then will be taught a short footwork & partnerwork routine to assess the level of your dancing. Every team’s audition is a little different, but generally they will be looking for things such as technique, timing, performance ability, and how quickly you pick up the material. Depending on how you do, you’ll be accepted onto a team that matches your ability.

Here are the dates you want to be aware of:

Saturday January 7th, 2012

There are two auditions on January 7th. The first one is for PB&G Dance Productions, and they will be holding it at the D’Venue studio in Campbell from 10am – 11:30am. The audition is for PB&G Rising Stars (their amateur team) and PB&G New Generation (semi-pro). The teams will be competing at the US Salsa Open in July as well as other events. The second audition is for Montuno Dance Company, also located in the South Bay. The audition starts at 12pm and we be held at Dance Boulevard in San Jose. The audition is for their student, amateur, and semi-pro teams. You can find out more info on their Facebook Page.

Sunday January 22nd, 2012

If you live in the City or are looking for an On2 team to be a part of, 2-time SF Salsa Congress champions Couture Dance Alliance will be holding auditions for their team on Sunday, January 22nd at the Symbolic Dance & Fitness Studio in San Francisco. Auditions will be for their training, semi-pro, and pro teams, as well as a new ladies team. Find out more on their Facebook Page.

Sunday February 12th, 2012

Salsamania Dance Company (the winners of the 2011 World Latin Dance Cup) will be holding auditions for their training, amateur, semi-pro, ladies, and professional teams on Sunday, February 12th at the Alameda Ballet Academy in Alameda.
