First of all, let me say I love the bar here! Very big and spacious, and they make great drinks. If you like to drink when you go out dancing like I do, you will love this place.
Aside from the alcohol, Roccapulco is a great place to go dancing, with a spacious dance floor (just watch out for the pole in the middle) plus a lounge area upstairs.
Roccapulco also hosts an annual salsa team competition, and there are regular performances from the area's top dancers. It can be a little slow on some nights, but on a good night Roccapulco is a great place to dance with some of San Francisco top salseros.

Roccapulco is an underappreciated gem in the Bay Area. The club is huge and gorgeous, and feels like it's been ripped straight out of a movie set. A special note has to be made about the bar, which is equally opulent and a major draw at this venue. Sadly the crowd is what kills it for me, as Roccapulco inexplicably seems to appeal almost exclusively to the wild party type. Simply speaking this is just not a "dancer's" place - I'd still recommend it if you're looking for a fun time in the city though.

I may be wrong but something has gone desperately wrong with Roccapulco. This USED TO BE one of the great Salsa dance palaces in the city. With Cafe Cocomo on the verge of permanent closure you would think Roccapulco would pick up the their crowd but that’s not the case! I heard the struggling “Rock” has new owners and it appears they’re catering more to Cumbia than Salsa these days. I can’t put my finger on it but something has changed with Roccapulco. Go figure.
